Growing, growing, now a commanding presence!

September 28 -

Hi sisters -

I am excited to announce that our newest colony - Kennesaw State University pledged 125 new colony members! This number includes 15 Iota Theta (Southern Poly) sisters. I was very pleased to have been invited to the pledging ceremony last night and thrilled to talk to some of the new ladies. One asked me how long I have been a member...drum roll, wait for it...35 years. OMG, how did that happen?

They are all beautiful, charming and young! Over half of them are freshmen. I foresee a bright and thriving chapter, and I am proud of them. And please take note, I was wearing an Alpha Xi Delta crest pendant on a necklace, and one of them even recognized it as our crest!

Thank you to everyone who sponsored a bid package. All the bid packages were covered. I know Atlanta Metro North Alumnae Association took care of two.

Alpha Xi is growing. Please continue to grow with us. We want to be a part of your lives, your achievements, to see your families grow, to be a part of your family (after all, we are sisters)!

Our next event is called "Living Xi Good Life." Join us at 6:30pm as we learn how to bring our finances under our control and learn how to build for the future so we can "live Xi Good Life!" Please bring an appetizer and/or dessert, and of course your favorite beverage. Linda Kurylosi, Certified Financial Planner, will be our guest speaker. A Clear Vision of Life. Hostess - Marilyn Whitmer.

We are promoting A Clear Vision of Life, (offerings from Alpha Xi Delta National Fraternity), http://www.alphaxidelta.org/a-clear-vision-of-life/

Reaching out to our Atlanta Sisters

Hi Sisters -

In looking over our strip list we receiver from National Fraternity, there are 1,940 sisters living in the north metro area...Alumnae, that we should, in all reality try to reach. How will that be possible? (BTW, our sisters in the south side, says their strip list was 2,600).

We cannot do it by pen and paper. And calling proves fruitless because no one answers their phones if they don't know who is calling, and if they are anything like my children, they do not listen to their voicemails. Most don't have the voice mail feature set up because all they use are texts. Or snapchat or Instagram.

The technology is changing. We have a website, we send emails, we have a facebook group (actually I post to about 5), but the next thing we need is a way to send multiple texts. PErhaps someone can help with that social media. A free way to do it. Ideas? 3,2,1 go....

Also, in case you haven't heard the news yet - Auburn University AxiD fall recruitment was 101! Congratulations ladies.

Fingers crossed for Georgia Tech which ended the 18th!
Univ. of West GA recruitment started Augusts 18th and ends the 22nd.
Kennesaw State, begins Sept. 1.
Georgia State, begins Sept. 11-13.

And we march on toward our Fall!

Alpha Xi Delta Founder's Day April 18 - You are invited!

Hello Sisters!

This is your invitation to the Family Reunion - Founders' Day, Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Druid Hills Golf Club.

Invite your big sister, little sisters, grand sisters and your whole chapter. We will have a prize for the biggest Family Reunion!

The prize? Well, it is still under discussion. But what is it worth to you? Have you seen your big sister lately? What about your little sister (or little sisters)? I can't even name any of my "grand" sisters...I don't think that was a big deal when I was back in college (you know, when dinosaurs roamed and we had to outrun the velociraptors as we flitted from one class to the next - they were bad in downtown Atlanta). I don't remember any effort made to having an entire family group. Current collegians can name generations back (or at least 5 or more years)!

So the connection is to connect. Touch base with your family group, and encourage them to attend. After all, it is really about Alpha Xi Delta. You might not have been friends in college if not for our fraternity. Just a phone call away to make you feel 18 again!

We will be honoring our Founders with the Founders' Day ceremony, recognizing our milestone sisters (25, 50, 60, 75 years of membership), presenting the Georgia Rose Volunteer of the Year Award, listening to Autism Speaks keynote speaker, hearing about our 4 state collegiate chapters and getting to visit with sisters we have not seen in years!

Click here to download the form to register for Founder's Day: https://www.dropbox.com/s/zoon7oef1qa2y96/foundersday2015.pdf?dl=0

If you have no intention of coming to the Founder's Day (Druid Hills Golf Club is sooo passe, don't like to drive in Atlanta, whatever the reason), please support Alpha Xi Delta with your checkbook. Pay for a collegiate senior to attend Founders' Day ($25.00), and/or sponsor our team in the Autism Speaks Walk: http://www.walknowforautismspeaks.org/faf/search/searchTeamPart.asp?ievent=1121611&lis=1&kntae1121611=32CCDDCED8864EB492011D954E34FEE9&team=6200934&tlteam=6183838Our goal is $1500, and the walk is set for Sunday, April 26. If you cannot donate, go walk, wear an Alpha Xi shirt - you will be amaXed at how many Alpha Xi's you see. It will make you proud.

Also - the last meeting of the 2014-2015 year will be on Thursday, May 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Sue Dupart's house - Kentucky Derby potluck - wear your big hat and a smile (maybe a sundress, please, some clothing), bring a salad-themed entree, drinks to share and we will celebrate the summer! Also - start thinking about a leadership position!

Almost Spring!

Hi Ladies - Spring is just around the corner and I cannot wait! Spring is one of my favorite times of the year, in fact, my wedding anniversary is the 1st day of Spring!

So in just 2 weeks, Thursday, Feb. 19th, we will be celebrating our collegiate seniors (Spring and Fall 2015) with a wonderful Greek Dinner. I like to tell my alumnae sisters to make sure to come meet their next boss, make a good impression on these young ladies who have our future in their hands!

I hope all of you plan to make it, and if you missed our January event where we made beautiful wreaths for Autism Speaks to use at upcoming conferences, seminars, dinners, etc., I will tell you that it was crazy fun crafting with everyone and no one lost any fingers or burned body parts off with the hot glue gun!

So, this blog is a little short, but please make sure you plan to wear your Quill on March 2 for International Badge Day, or our delicious YEAR OF THE SHEEP Chinese New Year extravaganza on March 12, AND you will NOT want to miss Founders Day on April 18th at the Druid Hills Country Club (we are sooo uptown!).
